With Jupiter now in Capricorn for the next 12 months the energy is shifting into new territory. Capricorn is a Cardinal (driven) Earth (stable) sign. Capricorn knows it takes work to achieve our goals; there is no shortcut to success. If you want to implement the discoveries that you made about your life during Jupiter’s transit of Sagittarius, this version of Jupiter is the one that will get it done.
Last year’s Jupiter was the big dreamer, blue skier, rose-colored glasses wearer. Anything and everything was possible when benevolent Jupiter was at home in optimistic Sagittarius. Life was a big beautiful party. But now the party is over and Capricorn is here to clean up and help us resume reality.
It may appear at first that Capricorn is the enemy of our good time, After all ruled by Saturn, Capricorn is known for its restrictive nature. But this is our chance to really make headway when it comes to our goals and wishes. This is our chance to really start creating something tangible and material that we desire. Serious Capricorn helps us dig deeper and create a better world for ourselves and others. Capricorn also reminds us we have to stop giving our power away and instead, think about how we can claim our own power to create the life that we desire.
Every 12 years Jupiter returns to the sign and exact degree it was when you were born and for those of you born with Jupiter in Capricorn you will experience during this forthcoming year what is known astrologically as Jupiter’s Return. This is a time associated with a strong urge for freedom and expansion, when you will want to improve yourself and explore and experience some new area of life, when new horizons open up to you and a new phase of your life begins. There can be a great feeling of progress and improvement in your life, a faith in the future, and a strong sense of going up in the world. Here are those dates when Jupiter was previously in Capricorn:
12-03-36 - 12-19-37
11-16-48 - 04-12-49
06-28-49 - 11-30-49
03-02-60 - 06-09-60
10-26-60 - 03-15-61
02-07-72 - 07-24-72
09-26-72 - 02-23-73
01-20-84 - 02-06-85
01-04-96 - 01-31-97
12-09-07 - 01-05-09
Globally we may see we may see changes not only in financial markets, but also in public policy with Capricorn’s practical-earthy stance and conservative views. Hopefully this will include more respect for earth’s resources and a concrete plan for battling climate change. As a reflection of how Jupiter in Capricorn can reset the clock, when Jupiter was last in Capricorn in 2008, you may recall that the Lehman Brothers went belly-up spearheading a global recession, there was the Fannie Mae sub-prime mortgage crash, as well as the stock market crash toward the end of 2008. Some other events include, the Watergate Scandal in 1972 (Richard Nixon also born with Jupiter in Capricorn); Discovery of AIDS Virus in 1984; and China begins surface-to-surface missile testing and military exercises off Taiwanese coastal areas in 1996.
In addition to Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn are also in Capricorn and all 3 planets will remain there for all of 2020. There are some interesting aspects happening next year that I will have information on closer to their occurrences, including the transforming Saturn/Pluto conjunction.
